Scarlet Vas, 29, and her husband Tayo Ricci, 27—who is also her stepbrother—have welcomed their first child together.

The couple shared the joyous news of their baby girl’s arrival on Instagram on Thursday, December 26, posting a series of photos to commemorate the special moment.

In the first image, the proud parents are seen holding their newborn daughter, who was born on Christmas Day. Another photo captures the baby’s tiny hand, gently held by both parents. To protect their daughter’s privacy, the couple covered her face with an emoji and have not yet revealed her name.

“Our Christmas miracle has finally arrived🤍,” they captioned the post. “Merry Christmas from our family to yours.”

Vas, known for portraying Mishti Sharma on the Australian soap Neighbours from 2017 to 2018, first shared her pregnancy news in September. Since then, she has been documenting her journey to motherhood on social media.

The couple first met as teenagers in Australia through mutual friends. They got married in September 2023 during a ceremony in Mykonos, Greece. Later, two of their parents married, making Vas and Ricci step-siblings. While the identities of their parents who wed remain unclear, Vas previously shared on TikTok that she and Ricci share a mother.

Despite facing criticism for their unconventional relationship, Vas told news.com.au in September that they don’t let the negativity affect them.

“Honestly, it doesn’t affect us because we have each other,” she said. “I don’t really read our comments section, but if I do, I actually laugh. We find trolls very entertaining.”

Vas further clarified that they are not biologically related.

“We were about 13 years old when we first met through mutual friends. Our families knew each other, and they introduced us,” she explained. “So we’ve known each other for a very long time.”

The couple often responds to negative comments with humor, with Vas noting that it’s a great way to disarm critics.
